Back pain and pelvic girdle pain is common during pregnancy and may continue after childbirth. It can be treated with physiotherapy including specific core stabilizing exercises (Stuge et al, 2004)Pregnancy is a magical time of life however can create some slightly less magical changes in the mother’s body. Back pain is extremely common both during and after pregnancy, as well as a lot of post natal associated conditions such as weak pelvic floor muscles or an inability to ‘find’ these muscles, incontinence and increased urgency / frequency visiting the ladies room, pain in the pelvic region due to childbirth or surgical intervention and sexual pain or dysfunction. You do not need to put up with any of these frustrations. Your physiotherapist’s at Total Therapy are highly trained technicians in clinical pilates and pelvic floor retraining and very capable of looking after skeletal changes in the lower back and SIJ. Get your body back to pre baby fighting fit – the journey starts at your first appointment.
