Traditional Pilates uses a regime of exercises to train the body's deep postural muscles. Key areas trained are the deep abdominal and lower back muscles, deep pelvic and hip muscles, and the upper and middle back muscles.Clinical Pilates is a method of specific exercise which has evolved from traditional Pilates with the input of physiotherapists and evidence based research into a rehabilitation tool to train the body's deep postural muscles known as the core muscle group. At Total Therapy we have a strong belief in movement as medicine and empowering you with strength of pain free movement. Clinical Pilates by Physiotherapists has a strong emphasis on accurate diagnosis and treatment of pain and injury, optimal postural alignment and biomechanics, while taking into account that pathologies are generally sensitive to load and direction. This differs significantly from traditional pilates which you may find in a gym class which has no specific attention to injury, moreover a large amount of exercises in the traditional pilates repertoire can actually create pathology.

We believe strongly in clinical pilates as a rehabilitation tool and have the latest technology in reformer development to provide you with the premium service you have come to expect from your treatment at Total Therapy.
